			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As the economy did its little nose dive we tend to forget about some of the environmental initiatives that have going on locally. The Sustainable Waterloo <a href="http://sustainablewaterloo.org/index.php?p=2009report">report is now out</a> and mentions:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8230; significant progress in our community as a number of local organizations are taking the initiative in seeking to make their operations as environmentally sustainable as possible. Following its first year of operation, Sustainable Waterloo has been able to facilitate greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goals for 10 businesses in Waterloo Region. Collectively, these organizations have committed to reduce 1, 243 tonnes of GHG emissions. That’s the equivalent of taking roughly 212 cars off our roads each year!</p></blockquote>
<p>This is good stuff! I would like to see more&#8230; like say better public transit and faster movement towards the light rail. Perhaps stop RIM from building on the outskirts of town and build bigger/better buildings closer to the core. Just a thought <img src='http://whoyoucallingajesse.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
