CSS perspectives
Stumbled across a link to this site and I thought this is pretty cool. A CSS Programmer’s Repertoire is a great site for folks looking at some other cool uses for CSS from a web application development perspective.
The staging area
We are developing an idea to work with the new Contribute – writers and publishers work in a password controlled staging area. This area mimic everything on the live site but is password protected. We then have an admin area that uses PHP to drop the files to the main server – brilliant isn’t it? I am sure its been done loads before.
We have a basic site set up now, and I can this basically be what dreamweaver does with its local/remote.. See how much fun this can be over the next couple of days.
stuck in an airport
Well thank goodness for 802.11b otherwise Phili would not be fun. I like storms, just not today.
One thing you notice about airport people when you get stuck there for hours and hours and hours is that everyone is friendly. I learned about 3 different manufacturing companies, how US customs lost track of 2 transport trucks that tripped radioactive alarms in Detroit, spy planes that got shot up a lot, and even ran into Jesse Jackson. What an odd trip.
Notes from the conference will appear by next week.
Port forwarding…
Day 1 of the conference has been interesting. The weather is relatively nasty – humid and rain – but the food is good and the coffee was flowing this morning.
The morning consisted of the following:
-Marketing & IT: Working Together Successfully
-Party on the Web: How to Make Your Online Community Work
-The 100 College Web Sites Survey
-The Puzzle of Technology: Closing
Ok.. another thing… so I remember. If I ever need port forwarding to send email with Entourage:
sudo ssh -L 25:admmail:25 jrodgers@admmail.uwaterloo.ca
Fun stuff.
Off I go
I think I am going to start up this blog with this conference that has me up at 6am on a sunday. So here goes, first entry on something not copied from web.uwaterloo.
Where I am I going? Web Communications and Strategies Conference in Salisbury Maryland. I am presenting on the four corners but there are many more really interesting presentations I hope to check out.
So I am off to the aiport. Leave a comment if you stumble accross here. I wonder if anyone reads this?
